Wild Art Summer – Wildflowers class

Junelle, from the Yes and Amen blog, is so inspiring and has such beautiful work.  I decided to jump into a class she’s doing on-line this summer (Wild Art Summer – Wildflowers) (though it can be accessed all year, so it’s not too late to join!).

Before I even started the class though, I was inspired to do this little number…DSC_0031

It’s totally different for me, and I had SO MUCH FUN doing it!  Mixing paper and acrylic paint, getting my hands all goopey with modge podge = fun!  The phrase is something I found on an old book page.

DSC_0037DSC_0036As you can tell by the title of the class, wild flowers are a major theme – but so is perspective and looking at things from new angles.  These hydrangea were so pretty in the evening light on our way to the beach.  I just stuck the camera in and clicked the shutter a few times and really like what I got!

One of the class projects is painting on a piece of wood (ideally 4×6, but I couldn’t wait for Joe to get home to cut a piece for me, so I used what was there – a huge chunk of 4×4! ).  I’m using gesso and acrylics for the first time, stretching myself with these new mediums and techniques, practicing and sketching and learning more about watercolor.  It has been fabulous – and we’re only half way through – hooray!!!
